Not a good night I'm afraid! Great place, tucked away in the middle of a rain forest but what about the noise of the insects and the bl....dy things themselves! What seems idyllic at first turns out to be not quite so idyllic after all.
Its hot and there isnt any air conditioning and no fan either so we sit out on the decking and as we are totally surrounded by the forest at first it feels cool. Then, despite spraying insect repellant on every inch of exposed skin the marauding thousands of little biters who have been watching our preparation with the spray can, commence their attack with military precision (no doubt laughing their heads off at our misguided belief in the repellant doing a good job)
Admitting defeat we retreat to the sitting room thinking we could open all the windows but horror of horrors no protective nets meant no open windows, they all remained firmly shut. Picture us sticking to the leather setee, steaming in our own perspiration, not a pretty sight!
Eventually we cool down a little and its time for bed. The cabin is not overlooked in anyway so who needs curtains? In the sitting room - no problem after all we are used to living in a goldfish bowl. In the bedroom - where the hell are the curtains, blinds, anything to pull across the large expanse of glass door leading to the outside deck? Ok so its pitch black now but from personal experience I know that at 5.30am it will be bright daylight.
I wasn't wrong so both of us were awake drinking tea at some ungodly hour of the morning!! Not so much of a problem for me but don't ask Steve what he thinks as normally for him there's only one 5 o'clock in a day and that's the one that says pm.
