Moving on to the Blue Mountaits and the town of Katoomba which is the central hub of the area.
On our way to Nelsons Bay we were plagued by roadworks so Steve was determined to avoid the main roads wherever possible on our way today. He worked out a very devious, cross country route to the Blue Mountains which took us down quite a few narrow roads which twisted and turned. One of these roads led us to our lunch stop in a beautiful village called Berowra Waters but it could have easily turned into a bit of a wasted trip. As we headed down a steep single track road with its fair share of s bends I enlarged the map we were following on Steves I pad. Horror of horrors the road appeared to be a dead end at the river and even though there was a continuation of the road on the other side a connecting bridge was not shown. I told Steve there probably wasn't a way across the river but he carried on regardless saying "theres probably a ford".
Excuse my language but it would have been a bloody big ford. Lady Luck was shining on Steve, it wasn't a ford but there was a chain ferry! We boarded and crossed the river to the marina on the other side and had fish and chips on the terrace of a hotel overlooking the river.
