hoo roo Sydney

I am reliably informed by Mr Google that the correct way of asking a question depends upon many things and whilst I have no reason to doubt him I am still reluctant to believe that 'hoo roo' means goodbye in OZ speak! Of course I have looked it up in the urban dicrionary and my access has been denied due to the site being seemingly pornographic. But I think that is due to the internet provider playing Big Brother. Anyway for now take it as read that hoo roo means goodbye.

I am sad to be leaving this wonderful city but I am looking forward to being home, even though we won't be returning to Crete until the end of April as we have some unfinished business to sort out, It has been an exciting and worthwhile experience, we have seen and done things I've only ever dreamt about, things I'll never forget. We've been places I've loved and some that I wasn't so keen on, run ourselves ragged fitting it all in and relaxed whenever possible.

Would we return to New Zealand and/or Australia? Probably not, it's a long way to go and there's plenty more places worldwide to visit but if we won the lottery and could travel first class then who knows.  Would we do this sort of trip again where we were living out of suitcases. Definitely not!

Views from the harbour bridge

We walked over the bridge, disappointed that the same measures as were in place in Brisbane were evident here in Sydney.  Getting to the bridge meant walking up a couple of hills and climbing a few steps. Once we were on the pedestrian walkway it was flat and it didn't take too long to get to the other side. We avoided the bridge climb over the top of the bridge the views couldn't have been any better from where we were.

Lunar Park

This small fun fair dating back to the 1930's overlooks Sydney harbour. It has original rides of a carousel and the fun house. It blends the modern need for recycling by  disguising the receptacles on a board  painted with old fashioned clowns

Views from the Sydney Tower

This 268 metre tall tower rises high on the skyline and gives spectacular views of the city and beyond when the sun shines that is! Its located over the shopping centre in the heart of the city. We walked around the outside!!

First Impressions

This three sided sculpture is located in The Rocks and is a memorial to the origins of the colony. It is named First Impressions and depicts a soldier, a convict and a family group of settlers

Just love it here. Although our plans didn't work out quite how they should have done nothing could detract from the magic of this city. I won't be waxing lyrical about it just adding a few photos

BMT (Blue Mountain Trail)

We followed the tourist trail stopping at the various view points and finishing with a short trip across the valley on the scenic skyway which is a glass bottomed gondola and a ride on the scenic railway which is the steepest passenger railway in the world. Its only a short ridedown into the rain forest but at a 52 degree incline it feels very steep, almost like standing up but you are seated.

In these last two photos it appears that the blue areas you can see through the trees is the sea but it is in fact the forests and foliageof the Blue mountains
